Despite being a hardcore BATMAN fan, I wouldn't have been surprised if The Dark Knight didn't win the award, but Christopher Nolan and The Dark Knight should have definitely been nominated for Best Director, Screenplay, and Picture.
I, too, have lost respect for the Academy.
PS: The Gears of War 2 patch doesn't better my mood either.
